Creme Academy’s Digital Film Making diploma has two main objectives: to give students a solid understanding of the theories, processes, systems, and equipment used in digital film and video production; and to provide in-depth practical experience using the latest equipment and techniques. This course follows the Creme Academy concept of combining technical skills with creativity. It equips students with the skills to compete in today’s demanding film making industry. Students will have the opportunity to produce short films, music videos, documentaries, and advertisements, and will leave Creme Academy with a strong portfolio of work. Upon successful completion of our legacy diploma, students are able to continue a top-up degree in the UK.

Prerequisites
    • The participants should be at least 17 years of age upon commencement of the course.
    • Minimum of high school certificate or equivalent required.
    • No skill prerequisites are required to participate in this program.
  • Basic knowledge of English language and computer skills needed.

Course Content

11 months (162 lessons * 3 hours/lesson)
Film Making Fundamentals I

This module aims to develop the students’ fundamental skills and knowledge in all areas of film making from pre-production, though production, to post-production. This module is an integral part in the journey to becoming a conscientious and well-rounded film maker, capable of collaborating on a number of  processes involved in the production of a film. Key areas of study include: script writing, pre-production planning, cinematography basics, digital imaging, editing theory, lighting, and post-production skills.

Information, Communication and Professional Media Practice

This module aims to introduce the student to the concepts and routines of academic research, critique and writing, and develop tools for good study practices and management. It covers theories of culture and communication, developing a basic understanding of the creative media industries, and the students’ role as professional creative media practitioners.

The Art of Storytelling

This module aims to explore a number of established and experimental processes used in script development, and to further the student’s understanding of narrative and cinematic construction. Students will learn important directorial skills, enabling them to build upon their personal development portfolio and further develop their visual style.

Film Making Fundamentals II

This module encourages the development of each student’s individual style with the creation of a self-directed short film requiring the comprehensive application of theories and techniques related to production and post-production practices.

Non-Fiction Film Making

This module will see students learn more complex working practices as they explore the different modes of non-fiction film making to plan and produce a short non-fiction film.

Creative Production

This module introduces students to contemporary tools and workflows, providing students with a wide range of professional tools and techniques. It also aims to further students’ ability to engage in a reflective process in parallel with their production practices.
